Puffing or building?

(1 Corinthians 8:1 NCV) Now I will write about meat that is sacrificed to idols. We know that “we all have knowledge.” Knowledge puffs you up with pride, but love builds up.

Why do you study the Bible?

“Cliche, cliche, cliche. . .” “Blah, blah, blah. . .” “Religious blather. . .”

No, I mean why do you really study or read the Bible?

Too many of us study to defend our Bible knowledge database.

Maybe you can Google that to see if that is a valid or biblical reason to look into the thoughts of God. You will have a better chance for affirmation on the internet because you won’t find it in the Bible.

Shouldn’t we pursue God’s words because we are hungry for spiritual food?

Is it too far-fetched to look at Scripture more like a pantry than a library?

Merely building your biblical database puffs you up, throws open the door to intellectual pride.

But we don’t get it and that is why we spend so much time arguing for the kingdom of God instead of building it.
