{"id":132,"date":"2007-10-28T16:36:53","date_gmt":"2007-10-28T21:36:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.livingbythewordsofgod.com\/?p=132"},"modified":"2007-10-28T16:36:53","modified_gmt":"2007-10-28T21:36:53","slug":"they-made-it-too-easy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dave.dlscott.info\/?p=132","title":{"rendered":"They made it too easy."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The hypocrites made it too easy for me to reject God as I grew up in church.<\/p>\n<p>I mean it was no contest, seeing their inconsistencies and meanness, their lukewarm attitude and &#8220;play church&#8221; mentality.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t have to look very hard or long to find the flaws.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, so there was one big problem.   The real problem was that I wanted to sin.  I didn&#8217;t want to go to hell, if there was a hell, but I didn&#8217;t really want a relationship with God.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to sin, sought it out, spent my time doing it, enjoyed a good portion of it.<\/p>\n<p>And the hypocrites helped me out, gave me plenty excuses.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, therein lies a problem because God will except none of the excuses that I concoct.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Hell&#8217;s a waitin&#8217;, boy.  Sure as the sun rises.  Don&#8217;t make no never mind about the hypocrites.  Hell&#8217;s a waitin&#8217; for those with flimsy self-serving excuses.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So after I tired of pursuing the fleeting pleasure of sin, I began a new search for God.<\/p>\n<p>Left the damned hypocrites out of the process this time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The hypocrites made it too easy for me to reject God as I grew up in church.
