{"id":677,"date":"2010-08-25T22:23:07","date_gmt":"2010-08-26T02:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.bottlerockettheology.com\/?p=206"},"modified":"2010-08-25T22:23:07","modified_gmt":"2010-08-26T02:23:07","slug":"adversity-is-a-sweetener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dave.dlscott.info\/?p=677","title":{"rendered":"Adversity is a sweetener &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My friend this evening &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I could tell he was happy to hear from me as soon as he realized who was calling.\u00a0 I could hear it in his voice.\u00a0 You just know.<\/p>\n<p>I thought he would be but I wasn&#8217;t sure.\u00a0 You see &#8211; we have been through some adversity over the last few months.<\/p>\n<p>Not the time to tell that story, but just the little brief account from tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Our friendship is better because we struggled through some problems together, didn&#8217;t really like what the other one was doing but both of us genuinely wanted to honor God.<\/p>\n<p>And this was big stuff.\u00a0 Big enough to easily end a friendship.<\/p>\n<p>But it didn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>And that is why as I was\u00a0 a smidgen apprehensive when I called, his welcoming spirit was so refreshing.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, so I&#8217;m going to bed now.\u00a0 Just thought you might want to know that the best stuff isn&#8217;t in all the initial pleasantries and introductions.<\/p>\n<p>You have to keep going; wade through the mess.\u00a0 And then you hear &#8220;so glad to hear from you&#8221; and it rings as true as the stars in the sky.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My friend this evening &#8230; I could tell he was happy to hear from me as soon as he realized who was calling.\u00a0 I could hear it in his voice.\u00a0 You just know.
