{"id":679,"date":"2010-09-01T19:51:34","date_gmt":"2010-09-01T23:51:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.bottlerockettheology.com\/?p=213"},"modified":"2010-09-01T19:51:34","modified_gmt":"2010-09-01T23:51:34","slug":"we-dont-know-what-we-are","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dave.dlscott.info\/?p=679","title":{"rendered":"We don&#8217;t know what we are &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Hebrews 2.5a-8b NIV<br \/>\nWhat is man that you are mindful of him,<br \/>\nthe son of man that you care for him?<br \/>\nYou made him a little lower than the angels;<br \/>\nyou crowned him with glory and honor<br \/>\nand put everything under his feet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The writer&#8217;s incredulity grabs me &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And if we really think about it, we too should be scratching our heads.\u00a0 You know how you are; I know how I am.\u00a0 How could God be talking about us?<\/p>\n<p>Hasn&#8217;t he observed life on the planet lately?<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t misunderstand.\u00a0 I believe God as he tells us who we are and what we are about.\u00a0 I believe the verse above.<\/p>\n<p>But even our own hearts deceive us per Jeremiah 17.9; deceitful and desperately wicked.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s us, and that is who God is talking about.<\/p>\n<p>And &#8230;<br \/>\nEverything under our feet?\u00a0 We are in charge of all this?<\/p>\n<p>That humbles me as much as it puzzles me.<\/p>\n<p>But here is what I hold onto:\u00a0 God is God and I (thankfully) am not!<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes we try to control so much; we reach and grasp and try to hang onto things and manipulate life.<\/p>\n<p>Be thankful that you can&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Take great strength and courage in:\u00a0 God is God!<\/p>\n<p>He rules; we bow; that&#8217;s the way of the universe!<\/p>\n<p>Amen!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hebrews 2.5a-8b NIV What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
