{"id":854,"date":"2011-09-13T21:20:12","date_gmt":"2011-09-14T01:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.bottlerockettheology.com\/?p=854"},"modified":"2011-09-13T21:20:12","modified_gmt":"2011-09-14T01:20:12","slug":"he-or-she-who-loves-mercy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dave.dlscott.info\/?p=854","title":{"rendered":"He or she who loves mercy &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>He\/she who loves mercy &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Micah 6:8 (NIV)\u00a0He has showed you, O man, what is good. \u00a0And what does\u00a0the Lord require of you? To act justly and <strong>to\u00a0love mercy<\/strong> and to walk humbly with your God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Where do we have that &#8211; loving mercy &#8211; on our list of things that speak to our walk with God? \u00a0We probably have a long list, if we are religious people at least. \u00a0Is loving mercy on the list? \u00a0Not do I agree that mercy is a good thing or a God thing, but do I love mercy?<\/p>\n<p>Church attendance, being nice, friendly, courteous, moral &#8230; \u00a0But we can do all those things without having a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, with no dependence on the indwelling Spirit of God.<\/p>\n<p>So this really is a good one to ask ourselves, that is &#8230; if we want to know, where our heart is I am speaking of. \u00a0Do I love mercy? \u00a0Or as the following story illustrates &#8211; Do I show mercy?<\/p>\n<p>Am I a mercy person?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Luke 10:36-37 (NASB)\u00a0&#8220;Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers&#8221; hands?&#8221; [37] And he said, &#8220;The one who showed mercy toward him.&#8221; Then Jesus said to him, &#8220;Go and do the same.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So often, so simple and clear &#8211; Who proved to be a neighbor? The one who was quick to reach for mercy.<\/p>\n<p>For some of us the pitcher of God&#8217;s mercy is near because we are constantly drinking it in. \u00a0For others the mercy vessel is far away from lack of need.<\/p>\n<p>When you drink the mercy of God, you cannot help but invite others to the table of his forgiveness and undeserved care.<\/p>\n<p>One more thought: Don&#8217;t miss the tremendous opportunity to extend mercy in this dark, competitive age we live in. \u00a0Don&#8217;t miss the opportunity to live &#8220;on earth as it is in heaven.&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Psalm 25:10\u00a0(NKJV)\u00a0All the paths of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0are\u00a0mercy and truth,\u00a0To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.<\/li>\n<li>Proverbs 21:21\u00a0(GW)\u00a0Whoever pursues righteousness and mercy \u00a0will find life, righteousness, and honor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He\/she who loves mercy &#8230; Micah 6:8 (NIV)\u00a0He has showed you, O man, what is good. \u00a0And what does\u00a0the Lord require of you?
