REVELATION MESSAGE 14
The Great Day of Wrath – Revelation 6

_______________________________

Who is going to face these judgments?

  • The writer of Hebrews tells us that “people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment (Hebrews 9:27 NIV). One day no more games, no more bandying about our opinions and stroking our pride. One day no more pretending.
  • As we look at these judgments, we should probably have some sense of shock and terror, and a great sense of sadness, as we realize who will be facing this. People like you and me, maybe even family and friends. That good neighbor couple who lives next door to you. Bob at work who is such an excellent coworker.
  • So who is going to face these judgments, the seals and the scroll and the vials? Everyone who has not been raptured.
  • Is this judgment horrible? Should it shake us up as we study it? Yes and yes. Should we ever doubt God as to the necessity of his judgment, or doubt him as to his solution for the problem of sin on the planet? Never.
  • What a person believes about the gospel tells you what they believe about sin. If they believe that salvation is something within their grasp, something they can work for, then they don’t understand the infinite gap between sin and righteousness. They don’t understand that the gospel doesn’t make good people better but brings dead people to life. And they do not understand grace, the means by which we are saved.
  • (Ephesians 2:8 ESV) For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.
