Crayon drawings

Tired, worn, overused but also very true and real and we must never forget:  God loves our crayon drawings.

I was listening to an old Steven Curtis Chapman song – “More Than Words” – and I, too, want God’s message to me to be more than words and my words to him likewise.  And for whatever reason I also thought of God’s wonderful acceptance of our feeble efforts to express our love and faithfulness to him.  I am not discounting our noble acts of service when we do things right; I guess the thought that came to me was that no matter how elaborate and sophisticated our words and service are to God, to the one whose ways and thoughts are above our ways and thoughts as the heavens are above the earth, what we do is like a crayon drawing.

I know the analogy is very tired and very worn, but the thought is still very true and powerful.  Our mighty deeds are very humble deeds to a God who is above all and through all, and yet Abba Father is ever so happy to accept our chicken scratches of love and worship and faithful service to him and pin them on his refrigerator.

How great is that!
