Owning the splendor of your life …

Own the Splendor of Your Life

Because of the work of Christ for you and in you, you are now a revelation of God’s splendor, His image bearer. You are not simply an object of God’s forgiveness and tolerance, which is what most people believe about their lives. No, there is a brilliance, a magnificence to your life that you are to take responsibility for: the splendor of your life— not simply what has been taken away, but what has been given to you. C. S. Lewis said, “Redeemed humanity is to be something more glorious than unfallen humanity.”

Setting our hearts on pilgrimage …

  • Scripture says, “Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion” (Ps. 84: 5– 7).

We are on a pilgrimage— a long journey to a sacred place for a sacred purpose. We will pass through many places and through many seasons: weeping and drought, joy and abundance. Ultimately we will go from one level of strength to a greater level of strength, which can only come from God.

Finding our calling …

So, if we are to find our calling, the intention of our lives, we must become oriented— we must find our true north. We must clear from our navigational equipment (our hearts) the inaccurate, invalid maps and errors and triangulate to the three universal coordinates: story, desire, and journey.
