Not a self-portrait

(2 Corinthians 4:7 MSG)  If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That’s to prevent anyone from confusing God’s incomparable power with us.

It’s not about self-portraits.  Even if  you are beautiful, those around you need to see more than your beauty and goodness gives them access to.

They need a reflection of God.

They need to be able to look at your life and mine and see a little bit of forever, past the ordinary kindness and goodness of people, to the saving grace of God.

They need a sneak preview of the glory to come.

And they need to be able to see that in you.

They don’t need to see how good and how righteous you are.  They need to see the reflection of Jesus, the Son of God in your life and mine.

Pretty groovy, huh!

2 Corinthians 4:5-6 MSG  Remember, our Message is not about ourselves; we’re proclaiming Jesus Christ, the Master. All we are is messengers, errand runners from Jesus for you.  (6)  It started when God said, “Light up the darkness!” and our lives filled up with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful.
